PS2

Ruth collaborates with Peter Mutschler on the urban/ rural projects within PS2
PS2 (actually called ps-squared but can't find out how to type 'the power of 2') is an experimental space (physical and intellectual) for art and cultural projects based in Belfast. It brings together cross-disciplinary groups of artists, architects, cultural geographers, etc and has a strong emphasis on social issues and engaged forms of creative practice. It aims to bridge the gap between creative practice, society and passers-by.

Ruth has collaborated on and/or co-curated the following projects:

Ballykinlar/Balykinler (2009-ongoing)
This is a loose and as yet un-described association between PS2, the artist Anne Marie Dillon and the people of Ballykinlar, Co Down. We are not sure where we are going on this journey and we are not entirely sure that we are of any use but arriving summer 2011 at the point of a new village fair seemed like a staging post on the onward voyage.

Street Archaeology (2005)
This project developed out of ‘Room Archaeology’ (a 1st year spatial analysis project for students of architecture, designed at the University of Sheffield). It was an audiovisual biography of a significant Belfast Street that charts urban memory and changing identity; specially commissioned from national and international artists and displayed at various locations along the Street. Funded by Belfast City Council

Urban Clearance (2005)
Urban Clearance was a series of four projects of urban intervention and social interaction. Artists from France, England, Northern Ireland and Austria were invited to Belfast by PS2 –an artist group itself- to look at the city and its urban and social structure. Their survey, discoveries or sightings were used to form the subject of their projects in various open forms: as an outside intervention, as documentation or installation, as an initiative or a film presentation - a dialogue with the city and the citizens at a time of significant political and economical change.
